Check out the talent behind our latest B2S catalogue!

You may have seen our newest catalogue that’s hit the stores recently, so now let us tell you a little bit about the artist behind the cover design. We would like to introduce you to Rik Lee!

Rik is a Melbourne based illustrator who has been working for the past 6 years on designs for magazines, clothing and streetwear, album covers and skate boards.  After completing a Bachelor of Design, he realised his passion was in illustration and has since been working hard to make a name for himself and in his own words “I got a few gigs and just kept going”.

Hey Rik, so what do you love most about your job?

Getting to do what I love – drawing everyday and being my own boss.

How did you come to work for Smiggle?

I got started by working for several magazines as well as doing other jobs part-time, before signing with an artist management agency. I was approached by the Smiggle Design Lab who are always on the lookout for hot new talent, and it seemed like a fun opportunity.

What was the inspiration for your design?

Smiggle initially laid out a brief, which basically stated that it was for the B2S catalogue and they were after a relevant image showing a girl and guy’s bedroom. Aside form that, they really allowed me to stick to my own style and go wild!

Lastly, what is your favourite Smiggle product and why?

My favourite product would have to be the Graphic Markers, which are brilliant for doing illustrations with.

Here is a peek at some of his other work:
